
Wanted: Master Recruiter Badge Candidates

Soldiers at the top of their military profession earn badges such as Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal Badge, Master Parachute Badge, or Master Diver Badge.
Soldiers who excel in recruiting should strive to earn the Master Recruiter Badge, the ultimate identification representing the top Soldiers in U.S. Army Recruiting Command.
Brigade Command Sergeants Major will recommend candidates and Brigade Commanders must approve recommendations. Candidate names are due to USAREC G-3 Plans and Program Division by May 26.
To be eligible, personnel directly involved in recruiting, must have a minimum of 18 months assigned to USAREC. Candidates cannot have intentional recruiting improprieties (RI) or omissions, which violate law, regulations or policies related to operations or misconduct within the past 24 months prior to the recommendation submission date. In addition, the nominee may not have any pending investigations regarding suspected RI (intentional or unintentional), misconduct, or commander’s inquiries. Flagged recruiters are not eligible.
Candidates must meet the standards of AR 600-9, and have a passing score on a record Army Physical Fitness Test within six months of taking the Master Recruiter Badge Competency Test (MRBCT).
The Staff Judge Advocate office will vet the names submitted to confirm eligibility. G3 will send a link to the candidates that will be available June 9-13. A commissioned officer assigned to USAREC must proctor the MRBCT. The candidate has one try, and must score a minimum 85 percent to proceed to the hands-on performance test scheduled at Fort Knox, Ky., from Sept. 8-12.
The hands-on performance test consists of 10 tasks administered over a four-day period using written, virtual, and face-to-face observation formats. All measures described in STP 12-79R35-SMTG, Soldiers Manual and Trainers Guide, MOS 79R Skill Level 3/4/5, dated 1 October 2010.
The tasks include:
1. Eligibility exam consisting of 10 scenario-based questions
2. Develop a recruiting operation plan
3. Prepare a detailed area canvassing plan
4. Conduct telephone prospecting
5. Conduct an Army interview
6. Create an enlistment packet
7. Pull a Future Soldier Remote (FSR2) reservation
8. Conduct FS initial orientation and counseling
9. Conduct FS physical readiness training
10. Oral presentation
This badge is not for the rookie recruiter. Only the mentally and physically fit recruiters who have mastered the trade need apply.
