Twelve NCOs were inducted into the U.S. Army Recruiting Command Chapter of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club (SAMC) today at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Appearing before the SAMC board in August at USAREC headquarters, 16 recruiters faced a battery of demanding tasks.

They were tested on their leadership and knowledge of Sgt. Audie Leon Murphy, Army regulations, field manuals, USAREC history, and other areas.

The Soldiers were given a written exam covering army doctrine and regulations, had to complete an essay discussing their opinion of the Army operating concept, did weapons qualification, were required to attain a score of 90 in each portion of the the Army Physical Fitness Test, led Physical Readiness Training, conducted a TA-50 layout with recognition, and completed a mystery event.

In order to appear before the USAREC board, all the Soldiers succeeded at battalion and brigade level boards. Only the best from each brigade were chosen to appear before the USAREC board, led by the USAREC Command Sgt. Major Willie Clemmons.

He told the inductees expectations of SAMC members are high.

“It's not enough just to join, the expectations are enduring,” Clemmons said.  “Joining the club is just the beginning. Your involvement in making your community better, mentoring your peers and subordinates is a task you should not take lightly. My challenge to you, is always be the example for others to emulate in our profession of arms. ‘Provide the Strength.’"

Sergeant Audie Murphy Club inductees are expected to live up to the four tenets of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club; loyalty, discipline, professionalism, and caring.
