The Columbus Recruiting Battalion made Speedway the 552nd Partnership for Youth Success member recently in Enon, Ohio.

“There is truly a great partnership between the Enon community and Speedway, and today, a new partnership is going to begin with the United States Army,” said Tim Howard, Enon mayor. “I have to be honest … I had never heard of the PaYS program, but after a little research, I soon realized what a great program this will be for the youth of not only our community, but other communities, as well.”

Speedway is the second largest chain of company-owned and -operated gasoline and convenience stores in the U.S. with approximately 2,760 locations in 22 states, employing more than 36,000 employees.

“It is an honor to partner with the Army on this program because it is right thing to do,” said Speedway President Tony Kenney.  “Our veterans have given of themselves so that we can enjoy our freedoms.  It is also beneficial to the Army, as it provides a job interview and possible employment for Army personnel as they re-enter civilian life.”

Lt. Col. Clydellia Prichard-Allen, battalion commander, spoke to the audience of local dignitaries about the importance of communities supporting Soldiers after they take off the uniform. Among the officials in attendance included Ohio state senator Chris Widener and state representatives Bob Hackett and Kyle Koehler.
