Dec. 2, 2014
Recruiters for the Special Forces, Psychological Operations, Civil Affairs, and 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment now have a home with the grand opening of the Special Operations Recruiting Center Nov. 21, at Fort Bragg, N.C.
“The opening of this center reinforces the unique responsibility and challenges that our special operations recruiters have serving in the only in-service recruiting unit in the Army,” said 1st Sgt. Trevor Proefrock, Delta Company, Special Operations Recruiting Battalion. “It also shows the continued commitment by USAREC, USASOC, Fort Bragg, and the Army to ensure in-service recruiters are provided with the right resources to recruit the next generation of special operations Soldiers.”
The event began with a parachuting demonstration from the U.S. Army Special Operations Command Black Daggers. Brigadier Gen. Ferdinand Irizarry II, U.S. Army Reserve Command G/3/5/7, was the guest speaker.
The last decade of continuous combat operations has seen an unprecedented demand for special operations forces, said Maj. Jason Hetzel, Delta Company Commander.
“Special operations Soldiers are a unique strategic advantage to the nation, and our recruiters have been specially selected to meet that mission requirement by recruiting qualified individuals ready to meet complex challenges in multi-dimensional, hybrid-operating environments,” said Hetzel.
SORB’s mission is finding qualified men and women to serve in Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations. Special Forces is open to males only.
