The Republic of Korea (ROK) Armed Forces is one of the largest standing armed forces in the world with a reported active and reserve personnel strength of 3,600,000. The ROK military forces are responsible for maintaining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the republic, but often engage in humanitarian and disaster-relief efforts nationwide. The ROK military has been increasing its participation in international affairs participating in various peacekeeping and counter-terrorism operations.

USAREC frequently shares recruiting advice with friendly foreign military delegations.
