"I felt honored to be competing at the USAREC level. It was a great competition and I really enjoyed this year's new format. It took the total Soldier concept into consideration. Competitors had to possess a wide range of knowledge, skills and abilities. I am especially proud of my Soldier, Sgt. 1st Class Mark Brunette, for winning the Army Reserve NCO of the Year and being selected to compete at the TRADOC level."

Fiscal Year 2014 Center Commander of the year, Sgt. 1st Class Thomas Dow, Dallas Battalion, 5th Brigade
“I’m exceptionally humbled to be selected. More so this year than in previous years, because there were more tasks and levels on which we were being judged, and because the competition was so fierce. At no point in time was there ever a clear winner because everyone did so well. It underscores why I’m proud to be a 79R.”
