Stay Safe During the Holiday; Keep in Mind Those Far From Home
Nov. 24, 2015
Team,
Thanksgiving kicks off the holiday season for most families. It is a time to reflect on the things we are most thankful for over the past year. For many, this tradition is spent with loved ones, watching football, or getting a jump start on holiday shopping.
Regardless of how you choose to enjoy the holiday, I ask that you keep those in mind who are unable to be with their immediate family and friends during this holiday weekend as well as those deployed overseas serving our nation. Let us give thanks for all of the Soldiers, Civilians and Family Members whose sacrifices allow us to enjoy the freedoms we have as citizens of this great nation.
Please keep in mind that more people travel during the Thanksgiving break than any other time of the year. Most members of the Army tend to be far from home and require extensive travel to see loved ones during this time of year. Use sound judgment and return safely.
You will most likely hear this many times by leaders who care about your well-being – Drive Safe! Now, you have heard it from me too. In light of ongoing world events, please be aware of your surroundings.
I also ask that you be mindful of your teammates and be sensitive to signs of distress. Reach out and be there for your teammate if you feel there is a need to do so.
Karen and I want to wish you and yours a truly special and safe Thanksgiving holiday. Thank you for everything you do every day in providing the strength of the Army!
Strength starts here!
Army Strong!
