Recruiter Helping Montana’s Less Fortunate Veterans

Staff Sgt. Zachary Bavender is now the vice president of the Montana Veterans Foundation – he was appointed to the position last month.
Assigned to Salt Lake City Battalion’s Helena, Montana, Center in January 2014, Bavender immediately immersed himself into the community. Center Leader Sgt. 1st Class Scott Seymour introduced to the Montana Veterans Foundation.
“The motto of the Montana Veterans Foundation is "Serving those who served" and since becoming a member of this organization, we have successfully helped over 18 homeless veterans get back on their feet,” said Bavender.
The non-profit organization assists homeless veterans, or those in danger of becoming so, by providing them guidance and direction to be become self-sufficient.
Throughout 2014, Bavender interviewed veterans for the program, worked at organization fund raising events, and volunteered to be a board member.
As VP, he’s making decisions about funding and maintaining the overall vision of the organization.
