Kealia Beach is known as one of the most beautiful beaches in Kauai, Hawaii. Unfortunately it had been tainted by an enormous amount of trash.
Recently, Kauai Center recruiters organized a clean-up day to restore the prestigious beach to its former glory.
Future Soldier Romel Bagaoisan mentioned how badly the beach had become polluted. With his help, Kauai recruitersorganized a clean-up crew of youth from various organizations.
Bagaoisan discovered the Boys and Girls club and Lions Clubs were organizing the same project.
Future Soldier’s were asked to bring a friend to the clean up and to post fliers around their schools and neighborhoods to draw interest in the event.
The two-day clean up yielded more than 100 pounds of debris ranging from bottles, cans, wood, and mattresses. Future Soldiers developed a sense of teamwork and camaraderie and realized how important it is to give back to your community.
"Working as a team has made me realize that whatever you put your mind to it can be accomplished,” said Bagaoisan. “By communicating, the impossible is possible.”
Through various volunteer efforts, the recruiting center develops a unique relationship with the Kauai community.
