One-hundred Los Angeles recruiters, and 250 of their Future Soldiers, marched in the Torrance, California, Armed Forces Day Parade May 16.
The Future Soldiers started their day early with training at El Prado Park by rehearsing drill and ceremony with Drill Sergeants from the 311th Sustainment Command. Food was provided by the city of Torrance.
L.A. Battalion Commander, Lt. Col. Norman Lawrence and Command Sgt. Maj. Feliece Murrell led the Soldiers and Future Soldiers to the starting point of the parade, which kicked off at 1:30 p.m.
People lined the street and cheered for service members from all branches of the military as military aircraft flew overhead. The Future Soldiers chanted cadence during their march down Torrance Boulevard.
The parade wrapped up at the Torrance City Center where 500 Future Soldiers from all the military branches came to a halt and were given the oath of enlistment by the parade grand marshall, Rear Admiral Joseph A. Servido, Eleventh Coast Guard District commander.
