Gym Membership Program Extended
March 10, 2015
Team,
Good news! The Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) Military Outreach Program - informally known as the gym membership program - has been extended through March 2016, and covers both YMCA branches and civilian fitness centers, such as Planet Fitness, Gold's Gym, etc. Memberships are purchased for six months at a time.
To be eligible to participate in the program, Soldiers assigned to USAREC must have six months or more remaining in command, and must be assigned to a dispersed location. Assignment to a dispersed location is defined as working in a facility more than 10 miles from a military installation offering free fitness facilities and not living on an installation offering free fitness facilities. Eligibility to participate must be verified by either the company commander or first sergeant.
The main differences between YMCA and private fitness center memberships are:
Participating YMCA locations:
Details for the program are published at: http://www.armymwr.com/recleisure/sportsandfitness/ymca_memberships.aspx
All applications are sent to the "USARMY Fort Knox, Kentucky, USAREC Mailbox G1 YMCA Fitness" on the global address list: usarmy.knox.usarec.mbx.g1-ymca-fitness@mail.mil
I highly encourage all eligible USAREC Soldiers to take advantage of the program while it is still available.
