The president of publishing company Thomas Media Group recently donated 250 tickets to the University of Florida’s first home football game to the Jacksonville Battalion.
It was Darrin Thomas’s way of thanking the Soldiers for their service.
"Anytime I can assist the men and women of the Army--I will,” Thomas said. “I was more than excited to donate these tickets to the recruiters.”
Recruiters immediately seized on the opportunity to use the Florida Gator tickets for recruiting efforts, giving them away as register-to-win prizes during lunchtime at some high schools and sharing them with Centers of Influence.
Long-time Army and battalion advocate, Christian Madsen, said, "I had a great time and want to thank the Army for taking me to the game."
Madsen who’s a corrections officer with the city of Jacksonville, says he loves the Army and is talking to a recruiter about joining the Reserve.
