More than 700 people attended the 4th Annual Operation Recruit Enlistment Dinner in Olympia, Washington, May 12, recognizing new military recruits from three Washington counties.
Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman thanked the future service members for their commitment to serve.
“Any branch of the military service understands the importance of ceremony and tradition, that those things matter and those steps mean something,” said Wyman. “What you’re all doing tonight recruits, is very significant and important.”
After a swear-in ceremony, community leaders served dinner to the recruits and their families.
“It meant a lot,” said Future Soldier Nastassja Severson. “You do so much for them when you go into the Army, and just to know that they’re there for you and support you and just to see that you’re making a difference means a lot.”
