The first group of Soldiers to attend the Career Counselor Course at the Recruiting and Retention School since its relocation to Fort Knox, Ky., in June graduated Sept. 5.
Sixteen students attended the grueling eight week course, which trains Soldiers from throughout the Army to be career counselors.
Sgt. Luisa Krogh, who’s stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky., said this was the toughest course she’s attended during her six years in the Army.
“Mentally it was very challenging because you have to pay attention to a lot of details, but I’m eager and ready to start my new job.”
Keynote speaker Human Resources Command Sgt. Maj. Vickie Rivera said career counselors are vital to the Army.
“Career counselors are the primary advisors to all commanders on all matters relating to retention. They are vital to the organization for making end strength.”
The school courses have gradually relocated from Fort Jackson, S.C., to Fort Knox throughout the summer. The relocation of the RRS will be complete with the addition of the Center Commander’s Course and the Army Recruiting Course in January.
